Chairman's Chat 2009
ARE WE A CLUB, A CHARITY OR A BUSINESS?
At our recent AGM, the membership voted unanimously to support the constitutional change from a Private Members Club to a Charitable Trust. The committee felt that this change would enable the Club to move forward and prosper in the future. (More details are contained within the AGM minutes).
As before, I am sure that the Club will continue to operate in a friendly and open manner but it is very clear to me, that as the Club grows and the demands upon it become even greater, we will need to operate as if we are running a small business.
But, we must not forget the reason why we exist and that is to provide an environment where people of all ages and abilities can enjoy competitive and social tennis alike.
In 2008, we built on the tremendous success of 2007. 2009 promises to be an exciting year as our 1st Team will be competing in the top division. Good luck to all our Senior and Junior Teams.
During 2009 the Club will celebrate its 40th Anniversary and there will be a number of special events to mark this significant milestone. So there is more than just the tennis to enjoy this year!
Best Wishes - Trevor Hale
Chairman's Chat 2008
2007 was a wonderful season for our Senior Teams. The 1sts achieved the League & Cup Double, whilst the 2nds and 3rds gained promotion from their respective leagues. The 4ths survived relegation on the final day.
What a remarkable year-our best ever in the Southport & District League. Congratulations to all concerned especially to our Captains.
But while we bask in the glory of it all we must not forget that this has all taken a lot of effort and planning by many people over the years who have generously volunteered their time.
I believe the Club offers great value with excellent facilities, a much envied Junior Programme and top class coaches.
In 2008 the Club will continue to focus on providing the best possible environment for all types of Tennis to thrive, whether it is Competitive or Social lets enjoy it.
The standard of 2007 is a hard act to follow but success breeds success.
Best Wishes in 2008 - Trevor Hale
Chairman's Chat 2007
As we move out of Winter and into Spring there is always an air of promise and optimism for the new forthcoming season.
Even as I write this little message, work continues with the replacement of new perimeter fencing.
Weather permitting, the courts will be ready for the start of the summer season on April 1st. Along with our new Pavilion, our facilities are as good as any around and I hope new and existing players alike, will enjoy them for many years to come.
I know we are all hoping for better performances from our Senior teams this year. After the successful winter league we expect to hit the season running.
Please support your team captains (some may be new and inexperienced but they are keen and enthusiastic)
Get down to the pre-season coaching and practice sessions.
As in previous years the Junior Programme will be a major part of the calendar during 2007. The development of our Juniors is fundamental to the Club’s future so please encourage in any way you can.
We have got a new Club Logo for 2007 with plans to use it on team kits, posters and car stickers.
Thanks to all committee members and volunteers for their continued efforts.
Enjoy your tennis in 2007.
Best Wishes - Trevor Hale |
